OILS * PASTELS * FIGURATIVE * LANDSCAPES * NUDES * FLORALS

For as long as I can remember, I have always loved art... I often get asked 'what inspires me?' When I was growing up...we made our own fun. We didn't go on expensive holidays or theme parks, our holidays were spent camping or we would rent an old 'beach' house and play on the muddy tidal flats, pumping yabbies for fishing. As a family we would go for Sunday drives....we might go for a bush walk, search under logs for 'critters', picnic in the middle of 'no where', or go for a cool swim in a rock pool in the mountains. When I first started painting, I mainly painted the beautiful places that my husband and I tavelled to on our many camping journerys. Now that I have my 2 beautiful girls...I am sharing the beauty of the outdoors with them, and they now feature quite often in my artwork. I have been told by many people, that my artwork brings back childhood memories for them, and I hope that my artwork reminds you of a special memory too.

Portrait 'Mrs Brennan' - Step by Step Images

This portrait was of my cousin's Nanna, she was giving it to her mother as a Christmas gift.  I always worry with portraits....I'm frightened of getting that 'likeness' of the person, but when I first showed it to my cousin Sarah, she burst into tears, so I knew straight away that I nailed it.  I was very pleased and proud to be able to paint this lovely lady.

'Where it all Begins!' - Life Drawing workshop

Well, what does everyone think?....this one is a bit different to my usual nudes and life drawings.

Today I attended a Life Drawing workshop - 'Where it all begins!'
The workshop is designed to remove the self critic approach to drawing and painting.
This process evokes many feelings allowing the artist to take risks in forming their own unique marks.

The workshops are held at Murumba Downs, if anyone is interested in attending next months workshop, contact Julianne Janbroers or Todd Whisson on Ph 3886 2865 or email todd.whisson1@optusnet.com.au

Life Drawing - August

I so loved Life Drawing this month.  We had the most gorgeous model, with beautiful curves, and this amazing peacock tattoo running up her outer thigh, on her left hip....though, as the drawings were quick, I didn't have time to draw the tattoo...would really love a longer session with this model.

Life Drawing - May

I didn't have a really productive 'Life Drawing' session this month....I just wasn't 'with it'.  I'm not really sure what was my problem...the model was very interesting, but there was just so much going on.....she had braids with beads, bright pieces of material in her hair, a bongo drum...and to top it off, a live parrot on her shoulder!
...anyway, I know we all have these days, it was still lots of fun though.
