For as long as I can remember, I have always loved art... I often get asked 'what inspires me?' When I was growing up...we made our own fun. We didn't go on expensive holidays or theme parks, our holidays were spent camping or we would rent an old 'beach' house and play on the muddy tidal flats, pumping yabbies for fishing. As a family we would go for Sunday drives....we might go for a bush walk, search under logs for 'critters', picnic in the middle of 'no where', or go for a cool swim in a rock pool in the mountains. When I first started painting, I mainly painted the beautiful places that my husband and I tavelled to on our many camping journerys. Now that I have my 2 beautiful girls...I am sharing the beauty of the outdoors with them, and they now feature quite often in my artwork. I have been told by many people, that my artwork brings back childhood memories for them, and I hope that my artwork reminds you of a special memory too.

Pauline Adair - Portrait Workshop

Today I attended a Pauline Adair portrait workshop, with the Samford Art Group.  This is the second workshop that I've done with Pauline....the first one she taught was on 'Nudes'.  As with the 'Nude' workshop, this portrait class is turning out to be just as good....loving what I'm learning!

.....Pauline doing a demo, & some of her amazing portraits in the background.
I decided to paint a portrait of my Grandfather.  He is 93 years old next month...can't wait for him to see it finished.  Above is a few 'planning' sketches.
.....under-painting
....starting to take shape, & I feel I've got a pretty good 'likeness'.

Looking forward to next weeks class to finish it off!

Pauline Adair Workshop

Well we had our final class with Pauline...here's a few images from the day.
Pauline Adair - below & top

We decided that the arm on my 'nude', just didn't look right, so for now I've blurred it out.
I think she's finished....still not sure about the arm though.  Will leave it for now & think about it.

'Pauline Adair' Workshop - 'My' work in progress

It's been sometime since I've attended a workshop, then I heard that Pauline Adair was conducting a class with the Samford Art Group....so I jumped at the chance!!  I've been a fan of Paulines since I started painting, it was such a thrill for me to meet her in person & watch her paint.
....this was how much I completed from the days class.
....I then continued with the piece at home.  Still a bit to do, but I'm really pleased how it's progressing.

September-Life Drawing

I attended a Life Drawing session with the Samford Art Group yesterday.  Gosh it's been years since I've done any life drawing.  I thoroughly enjoyed it....not too sure I'm entirely happy with the drawings, but I'm certainly looking forward to next months session.

Samford Art Group - Workshop

These are some images of a workshop that I tutored for the Samford Art Group.
They all worked off the same reference photo of 2 children going for a walk on a bush track.
'reference photo'
.....some of the artists, busy with their creations.
....everyone's artwork was amazing...they did such a great job.
....it was very interesting to walk around and view all of the paintings.  Everyone had the same reference photo, but they were all so different.  Each artist, viewed and interpreted the scene in their own way....there's no right or wrong...they were all fantastic!
I really enjoyed myself, and I hope all the ladies did too.  I'm looking forward to returning in early October....we're going to 'tackle' a 'figurative street scene'.
