This portrait was of my cousin's Nanna, she was giving it to her mother as a Christmas gift. I always worry with portraits....I'm frightened of getting that 'likeness' of the person, but when I first showed it to my cousin Sarah, she burst into tears, so I knew straight away that I nailed it. I was very pleased and proud to be able to paint this lovely lady.

Hi there Amanda!... Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteIt always amazes me when I watch your work in progress... how it appears first... then how gradual your tonal shift develops... until finally the addition of your warms... over top of those cools and dashes of charcoal to create such a beautifully psychological rendering! A wonderful working process to view! Thank you for taking the time to record and share!
"Simply"... beautiful Amanada!
My hat is off to "You"!
Good Painting... and rich blessings in 2013!
Warmest regards,
Bruce
