'Water Nymph'
oil on stretched canvas
41 x 30cm
This fishing trawler doesn't exist anymore, she now sits at the bottom of the ocean somewhere. This painting was for my 'cousin-in-law'. The boat belonged to his uncle who passed away a little while ago....so it was very special.
I only had the 2 pic above to work with for reference material. My cousin wanted the boat to be painted as if it was going out to sea. I found this challenging, as I didn't have a pic as to how the actual boat looked from behind....and of course I wanted it to look like the 'Ronda Lene'.

.....under-painting, still trying to get it right
The finished painting
....close-up of the boat.
I found this painting hard....as it was like doing a portrait, because the boat had belonged to someone....it was just not any fishing trawler, it meant something special. Plus, I'm not a 'boat' person....I really don't know much about them....so be gentle you guys out there who are boat enthusiasts, lol

Life Drawing recommenced for '2013' .....it was great to back with the Samford Art Group....
I had alot of fun with colour today!

....lovin' the colour!!
This portrait was of my cousin's Nanna, she was giving it to her mother as a Christmas gift. I always worry with portraits....I'm frightened of getting that 'likeness' of the person, but when I first showed it to my cousin Sarah, she burst into tears, so I knew straight away that I nailed it. I was very pleased and proud to be able to paint this lovely lady.
