For as long as I can remember, I have always loved art... I often get asked 'what inspires me?' When I was growing up...we made our own fun. We didn't go on expensive holidays or theme parks, our holidays were spent camping or we would rent an old 'beach' house and play on the muddy tidal flats, pumping yabbies for fishing. As a family we would go for Sunday drives....we might go for a bush walk, search under logs for 'critters', picnic in the middle of 'no where', or go for a cool swim in a rock pool in the mountains. When I first started painting, I mainly painted the beautiful places that my husband and I tavelled to on our many camping journerys. Now that I have my 2 beautiful girls...I am sharing the beauty of the outdoors with them, and they now feature quite often in my artwork. I have been told by many people, that my artwork brings back childhood memories for them, and I hope that my artwork reminds you of a special memory too.

Unititled Nude - FINISHED

Well she's finished....well I think she is.  There's a few things that bother me....I'm happy with the figure, it's just the background that didn't work out how I wanted.  I guess 'artists' are often like that, there's always something that annoys us about a particular work, or sometimes they just never seem to be finished.
My daughter doesn't like the white that I painted around the face and head....what do you think?

  2. Good Morning Amanda!... This nude joins the other as a wonderfully executed figure painting. Your flesh tones are wonderful... your anatomy correct.

However... I share your daughter's concern with the lower part of the painting. The figure feels awkwardly couched on a "too bumpy sofa"... or something. I feel discomfort with the feeling that the nude figure has so much to say... and the bottom so little. It leaves me looking to make her more comfortable.Just one fellow's humble opinion!

    Good Painting!
    Warmest regards,
    Bruce

  3. Hi Amanda, love the pose and skin tones on this one, very nicely done. You asked for comments; my thoughts are perhaps the background should be a simpler tonal one so as to focus more attention on the figure. My eye is a little distracted now, but otherwise, quite lovely!
