For as long as I can remember, I have always loved art... I often get asked 'what inspires me?' When I was growing up...we made our own fun. We didn't go on expensive holidays or theme parks, our holidays were spent camping or we would rent an old 'beach' house and play on the muddy tidal flats, pumping yabbies for fishing. As a family we would go for Sunday drives....we might go for a bush walk, search under logs for 'critters', picnic in the middle of 'no where', or go for a cool swim in a rock pool in the mountains. When I first started painting, I mainly painted the beautiful places that my husband and I tavelled to on our many camping journerys. Now that I have my 2 beautiful girls...I am sharing the beauty of the outdoors with them, and they now feature quite often in my artwork. I have been told by many people, that my artwork brings back childhood memories for them, and I hope that my artwork reminds you of a special memory too.

'Beach Life' - Work in Progress

I'm reasonably happy with the way this artwork is progressing.  I have done a few changes from my first posting of this work....firstly - the lady with the toddler - I have brought forward...I felt her size just didn't seem right in the distance...secondly - I decided to delete the fellow with the red shirt that was in front of the 3 girls on the right side of the painting.
I feel it's starting to work now....I think - 'well I hope' - first you notice the 3 girls on the right, then your 'eye' is drawn through the painting to the swimmers in the distance.  Well..at least that's what I'm trying to achieve.

The size of this painting is 122 x 91cm

  3. Thanks Caio,
This painting has been 'a challenge'...I have really had to be very carefull with the placing of my figures with this artwork....making sure they look the right size in the distance and also in the foreground....but I think it's going to work...I'm looking forward to the finished result.

  6. Hi Amanda, This painting is fantastic, its great to watch your progress, and I think it would be hard to paint all those people , but it all looks in proportion , so you have done very well. Will be looking forward to seeing this finished
