For as long as I can remember, I have always loved art... I often get asked 'what inspires me?' When I was growing up...we made our own fun. We didn't go on expensive holidays or theme parks, our holidays were spent camping or we would rent an old 'beach' house and play on the muddy tidal flats, pumping yabbies for fishing. As a family we would go for Sunday drives....we might go for a bush walk, search under logs for 'critters', picnic in the middle of 'no where', or go for a cool swim in a rock pool in the mountains. When I first started painting, I mainly painted the beautiful places that my husband and I tavelled to on our many camping journerys. Now that I have my 2 beautiful girls...I am sharing the beauty of the outdoors with them, and they now feature quite often in my artwork. I have been told by many people, that my artwork brings back childhood memories for them, and I hope that my artwork reminds you of a special memory too.

'Dayboro Day Colours' - Figurative Oil Painting by Amanda Russian

Finally!....I've finished this one!  There was so much happening in this painting...it just seemed to take forever...but I'm pretty pleased how it has turned out...just 'loving' all the colours.
This artwork will be going to Redcliffe City Art Gallery for their '15 Artists' Exhibition to be held from 20th October until 12th November.

  1. Hi Amanda!.... The Lion in the "Wizard of Oz" wanted so much to have courage. He could have gained real insight into courage by simply looking at your work! Such courage... and conviction!

Wonderful compositional elements and control of colour... though "so much is happening." A real treat for the eye!

    Good Painting... and sales!
    Warmest regards,
    Bruce

  2. courage....yes you are so right, Bruce. Sometimes, when I was painting this one, I thought to myself 'ahhhhh!!!' 'why do I do this to myself, why do I make things so hard'...but it is so rewarding to sit back and look at the finished artwork and think to myself...'wow, I did that!'
